Progress 8
Progress 8 is a measure of a pupil's progress from primary to secondary school across eight key subjects.
Pupils' results are compared to the actual achievements of other pupils (with the same prior attainment) which allows for all schools to be compared in the same way.
A school's Progress 8 score is the average of all pupils' Progress 8 scores. The DfE have classified schools in the following way based on their Progress 8 score:

A school with a Progress 8 score of +0.50 means that, on average, pupils achieved half a GCSE grade higher in each subject than they were expected to achieve. Conversely, a school with a Progress 8 score of -0.50 means that, on average, pupils achieved half a grade less than they were expected to achieve.
